Call for Presenters

Southwest Education & Technology Conference/Tech Expo

March 3-4, 2009

The Regional Consortium for Education and Technology in southwest Missouri invites you to submit a proposal to present at the 20th Annual Southwest Education and Technology Conference/Tech Expo. The conference, to be held March 3-4, 2009, on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, offers educators an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas on the present and future of educational technology.

Presentations should focus on the integration of technology in today’s classrooms. This conference is aimed at using technology for instruction by showcasing the latest in classroom applications, displaying software and hardware, and providing sessions and workshops dealing with issues of technology in today’s schools. Topics include, but are not limited to educational computing, innovative uses of software, multimedia, funding, telecommunications, and technology planning and should be geared toward elementary and/or secondary teachers, tech directors, library/media specialists, and/or administrators.

We will offer preconference and breakout session formats. Preconference sessions of three hours in length, will be held on Tuesday, March 3, with audiences restricted to 20-30 attendees. Breakout sessions of one hour in length, will be held on Wednesday, March 4, with variable audience sizes of 10-60 attendees. Please consider presenting either a one hour breakout session, or if your topic requires in-depth study, please consider presenting a three hour morning or afternoon preconference session.

We strongly encourage presenters to model the use of technology in their sessions by using presentation/ multimedia software and state-of-the-art equipment. Each presentation room will be equipped with the following:

Presenters are asked to bring their presentations on a jump drive, CD, or DVD.  However:

·         If you need special software installed on the presenter workstation, or

·         If you require your personal laptop for your presentation

please contact Debbie Nelson at rcet@mindspring.com  prior to submitting this form.

Additional computers, printers, and power strips/extension cords for your presentation must be furnished by the presenter.

The technology committee strives to provide high-quality professional development. Therefore, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the technology committee based on relevance of the topic to conference tracks, educational significance, value for participants, and presenter knowledge and experience. Not every submission may be selected .

Conference or preconference registration fees will be waived for preconference presenters. Conference fees will be waived for breakout session presenters. There is a limit of two presenters for each session.
